Nyngan Solar Power Plant

STE Solutions were honoured to be awarded the Independent Testing Contract by First Solar Australia for the high voltage plant and equipment at the Nyngan Solar Farm in NSW.

First Solar, is a leading global provider of comprehensive photovoltaic (PV) solar energy solutions . The company has developed, financed, engineered, constructed and is operating some of Australia’s and the world’s largest PV power plants.

The Nyngan Solar Plant occupies approximately 250 hectares just outside the NSW township of Nyngan and when commissioned will have a capacity of 102 Megawatts(ac). AGL commissioned First Solar to provide the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services for the solar plant and have also appointed First Solar as the plant’s Operations and Maintenance (O&M) provider for a period of 5 years.

STE provided the testing and commissioning support to First Solar during the construction and commissioning stages of this project and is currently providing on-site support during the pre-energisation processes. This time has been an enjoyable experience for all concerned and we have forged strong relationship with First Solar and made many new and valued friends. We look forward to working with First Solar in the future.

Mumbida Wind Farm.

STE Solutions has just completed the high voltage balance of plant maintenance services at the Mumbida Wind Farm which is located just outside Geraldton in WA. The Mumbida site is the first wind powered site in Australia for GE Power and Water and has a generating capacity of 55 megawatts which is provided by 22 General electric 2.5MW turbines.

The maintenance services provided to GE by STE are protection and control system diagnostics and testing, power transformer maintenance and testing and the maintenance of the 132 and 33kV plant and equipment. The procedures followed are as per the manufacturer’s recommendations and as a result of the wealth of experience and knowledge STE has gained in providing maintenance services to a number of clients over time.

Select Harvest Co-Generation Project

Select Harvest is the largest processor of almonds in Australia and is the third largest processor in the world, STE Solutions were engaged by Trivantage for the installation of the new HV cabling and the testing of the protection systems at the Carina West processing plant in Victoria.

Select Harvests, which owns almond orchards in NSW, Victoria and South Australia will spend $11.9 million on a Biomass Electricity Co-generation Plant which it expects will generate 2.5 megawatts a year of energy from the pruning, shells and hulls it generates from almond harvesting.

STE Solutions involvement included the installation of the HV cables, the jointing, terminating and testing of these cables and the site acceptance testing of the protection and control relays in the new High Voltage control rooms at both the Carina West and Robinvale facilities.

This project reinforced STE’s reputation in regards to its ability to provide turnkey solutions  to our clients.
