STE Solutions are honored to have been awarded the Independent Testing Contract by First Solar Australia for the high voltage plant and equipment at the Broken Hill Solar Farm in NSW.
First Solar, is a leading global provider of comprehensive photovoltaic (PV) solar energy solutions. The company has developed, financed, engineered, constructed and is operating some of Australia’s and the world’s largest PV power plants.
The Broken Hill Solar Plant occupies approximately 140 hectares five kilometres form the NSW city of Broken Hill and when commissioned will have a capacity of 53 Megawatts (ac). AGL commissioned First Solar to provide the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services for the solar plant and have also appointed First Solar as the plant’s Operations and Maintenance (O&M) provider for a period of 5 years.
When the Broken Hill site becomes fully operational, completion is expected to be in November of 2015, it will be in conjunction with the Nyngan Solar Plant produce approximately 360,000 megawatt hours of electricity, which will be sufficient to meet the needs of over 50,000 average NSW homes.
STE is providing the testing and commissioning support to First Solar during the construction and commissioning stages of this project.
The award of this contract has further strengthened our already strong relationship with First Solar and allowed STE Solutions to broaden its horizons in the renewable energy sector.
